Terms of use

Effective [effective date]

These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of Remember Me ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. Please also read our privacy policy, which explains how we handle your information.

1. The service

Remember Me lets you create private memorials of people you love, write their life story, keep photos and other memories, and invite family and friends to view or contribute. Memorials are private: only people invited to a memorial can see it.

We may improve, change or stop parts of the service over time. If we plan to shut the service down entirely, we will give reasonable notice in the app so you can keep copies of what matters to you.

2. Your account

3. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you add: text, photos, recordings and other material ("your content"). To run the service, you give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to store, copy, process and display your content only to provide Remember Me to you and to the people you share it with. This permission ends when your content is deleted, except where other members still have access as described in the privacy policy, or where we must keep a record by law.

You confirm that you have the right to add your content, and that adding it does not break the law or anyone else's rights, including copyright and privacy. Memorials often include details about living relatives: please be considerate about what you share and with whom.

4. Sharing and roles

The owner of a memorial decides who is invited and what role they have: admin, contributor or viewer. Invitations give view-only access unless the owner chooses otherwise. Owners can change roles, revoke invitations and remove members at any time, and members can leave a memorial at any time. Content added to a memorial becomes part of that memorial; its owner and admins may remove it.

5. Acceptable use

Remember Me is a place for remembrance. You agree not to use it to:

6. Reporting a concern

If you see content or behaviour in Remember Me that breaks these terms, or that concerns you, please tell us:

We review reports promptly and aim to respond within 24 hours. You can also protect yourself straight away: you can leave any memorial you belong to, and the owner of a memorial can remove members and revoke invitations.

7. Our right to remove content and accounts

We may remove or restrict access to content, or suspend or close accounts, if we reasonably believe they break these terms or the law, put others at risk, or expose us to legal liability. Where appropriate and lawful, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. If you believe we made a mistake, write to support@remember-me.app.

8. Free plan and Remember Me Plus

Remember Me is free to use. The free plan includes unlimited memorials, private sharing and collaboration with all roles, and a limited number of photos per memorial.

We plan to offer an optional paid subscription, "Remember Me Plus", with extra features such as more storage and more kinds of media. Paying will always be optional. When Plus is available:

9. Our app and brand

The Remember Me app, website, name and logo belong to us. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app for its intended purpose; they do not give you any other rights to our software or brand.

10. No warranty

We work hard to keep Remember Me reliable and your memories safe, but the service is provided "as is" and "as available". We cannot promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors, or that content will never be lost. Please keep your own copies of photos and other files that are precious to you.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the service, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing affects your rights as a consumer under the law of your country.

12. Ending these terms

You can stop using Remember Me and delete your account at any time. We may end these terms or close your account as described in section 7, or if we stop offering the service. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as 10 and 11) survive.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the effective date. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you do not agree, you can delete your account; continuing to use the app means you accept the updated terms.

14. Governing law

[Governing law and venue to be confirmed.]

15. Apple devices

If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store, these terms are between you and us, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms.
